Ange Postecoglou has responded to rumours that he is being considered as replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool at the end of this season, stating he has "no interest" in the "so-called chat".
He distanced himself from the speculation in his pre-match news conference this afternoon: "I may be on a shortlist but I don't want to say anything about that because I don't think that's ever going to enter my brainspace for my priorities in life and in my profession right now."
After joining the club just seven months ago, Postecoglou said his answer to the reported interest should be "pretty self-explanatory".
"It pains to say that we’ve still got a long way to go in terms of the football we want to play, the team we want to be, the squad we want to have," he added.
"We’ve had two positive windows and a decent campaign so far, but we’ve got a long way to go."
When asked whether there should be any doubt that he will still be at Tottenham next season, he answered: "See, that’s what I’m talking about. That’s the funny space when we talk about managers. When we’re not going well, they are questioning whether we are still going to be here. When we are going OK, they are still questioning whether we are going to be here.
"The reality is that most of it is out of our hands. I’ve never worried or thought about that. I’ve got a history of 26 years in management, where you can see pretty clearly what I do. I rely on that as my explanation as to where my thought processes are with all of these kinds of things."
The Australian was also asked whether or not he is flattered from Liverpool's reported interest in him, to which he responded: "It depends, you know? If it’s just people throwing names around, then who cares? Like, seriously?
"But, at the end of the day, if I’m doing a good job, hopefully it does mean that people will acknowledge that in one form or another, but so-called chat is of no interest to me."
